Have I ever mentioned I am also a homestay mum? I started doing this to generate some income and discovered it was my next favourite thing. It inspired me to expand on my Asian cooking skills and now we eat that way, it is healthy and plain delicious. I have just waved the most wonderful Korean mum goodbye who brought her 11 year old to homestay with me. I will be raising him for the next 7 years. I am so excited by this challenge. I have done Homestay for 7 years now and have always wanted a child I can raise and at last I have one for more than a couple of years.
The purpose of this entry is that Jinah, during her visit said again and again in her fragmented English,” ….so green, I LOVE the green”,
Well Canada IS green. there is no mistaking it. This country is vaste and boasts an incredibly green natural heritage.
This wonderful mum explained to me that in South Korea she has to travel for many hours to view anything rural, that she was surrounded by grey concrete that comes with city life, that her spirit craves nature.
This conversation reminded me to be grateful for where I live. we take so much for granted.
My guest enjoyed the dogs too 🐕 and enjoyed seeing folks walk their dogs wherever we went locally. It is typical in Tsawwassen, where I live, at any time of day wherever you go, to see a sidewalk embellished by a dog walker.
The day before she left we took a drive to a harmonious landscape, a bird sanctuary not too far from where we live. We settled alongside the small green river, I suggested we meditate for 10 minutes. we did.
Some silence....... the sound of birds..... a plop of a duck dunking in the river breaking the thick countryside silence, it was truly marvellous.
At the end of our silence she said……”ah over here I can forgive my enemies” I LOVED that .
Listening to this exquisite music today, so calm remembering that beautiful scenery and those magical moments...
